Doing the Thing

A place to do things, together.

🌱 A low-pressure, chat-based space for body doubling, co-regulating, and doing the thing – collectively!

Doing the Thing is a space created by neurodivergent and crip people who needed a gentler way to approach everyday tasks. It focuses on shared momentum, collective grounding 🌱, and flexible anchors βš“ that help you move at your own pace. The platform is built around low-demand communication, where emojis, short check-ins, or quiet participation are just as welcome as longer messages. Everything here is meant to reduce friction, offer orientation, and support people during moments of shutdown, overwhelm, or executive dysfunction.

The Discord space grows and adapts according to the needs of the people using it. You can join structured practice times, start spontaneously, or simply be present alongside others. There is no expectation to perform or explain yourself. Whether you join for movement, creative work 🎨, bedtime routines, or daily care tasks 🧘, you are welcome to take what helps and leave the rest. Our aim is to create a community where it feels possible to start, pause, or return whenever capacity allows, without pressure or judgement.

What Doing the Thing Offers 🌿

What this space supports:

Low-Demand Structure πŸ•ŠοΈ
The space offers gentle rhythms rather than rules. Anchor times provide orientation, if you need them. You can follow them loosely, bend them, or ignore them completely.
Starting Together 🏁
Anchors, shared 1-2-3 starts, and quiet co-presence help remove resistance when beginning a task. You can start with a 🏁, an emoji, or nothing at all, and begin with others, not alone.
Designing Instead of Functioning πŸŒ‘
We want to focus on aligning and designing the platform according to our needs. Channels are simple, uncluttered, and as low-stimulating as possible. You can hide or mute what you don’t need. And everyone who joins can give us feedback and help to further co-create and design this space.Β

Accessible Communication πŸ’¬
You can show up however you communicate: emojis, short check-ins, AAC, fragmented thoughts, silence, or long pauses. All speeds and styles are welcome.

Co-Regulation Through Presence 🌬️
Seeing others move through their tasks can soften your own overwhelm. The community works like a quiet nervous system buffer, helping people settle, focus, and feel less isolated.
Collective Agency ✨
Tasks that feel impossible alone can become doable when you know others are moving with you. The aim is not productivity but empowerment, doing things at your own pace, while connecting with like-minded people.
